Easter With Intention

I knew that I wanted this Easter season to be different.
For my son’s first two years, we went to church, hunted eggs, and gave small Easter baskets.

As he grows in awareness, I want him to sense the seriousness of the Cross.
I want him to grow to reverently honor and deeply appreciate Christ’s work.
I want the Resurrection to be the foundation of the way the loves and serves.

After all, the Resurrection is the foundation of my beliefs.
It is the cornerstone of Christianity and the origin of eternal life.

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ
was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

Romans 6:4

Because of the Cross, I am able to become a new creation.
We get the chance to die to our old self and be raised to new life in Him.

And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
1 Corinthians 15:17

Because of the Cross, I have a purposeful faith.
My faith is founded and sure.
It is important and impactful.
It guides my life.

Because of the Cross, I am free from sin.
This doesn’t mean that I do not sin, but I am released from the consequences sin.
Freedom from sin should lead us to continually walking farther from sin.

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God!
He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:56-57

Because of the Cross, I have eternal life.
Although my body will fail me, I will live on with Jesus.
My spirit will go on eternally praising my Father.

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5

The truth of the Resurrection gives hope and healing.
It ignites our purpose and should spark passion.
It should drive us to serve, love, and share.

The truth of the Resurrection is something worth honoring with intention. Although we will always fall short of giving God the glory He deserves, my hope is that this season I will turn my family’s eyes and attention to Jesus.

I sat down a few weeks ago and researched ways to respect and celebrate the Resurrection in our home. I found ideas that were fun for my son, related to Jesus, and practical for a busy family.

I have created a free download below for you and your family to use as a guide.

Let us not forget all that He has done.
